Valerie Kondzella Theisen died peacefully on May 15, 2021 in the home of her sister and brother-in-law, Kate and Jim Renshaw. Val was born on December 30, 1955 in New Shrewsbury, New Jersey, to Michael A. and Barbara E. (Dalrymple) Kondzella. She was one of six children.
She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Daniel Theisen, of Lake Orion, Michigan; sister Kate Renshaw, brothers Toby and Patrick Kondzella, five nieces and nephews, two uncles, Nicholas (Georgia) and Shaun (Sher) Dalrymple and numerous cousins. She was preceded in death her parents and brothers Michael and Dana. Val was known for her meticulous attention to detail. She also loved laughing and shopping, music and theater, especially “Jacque Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris”. She surprised Daniel on their first date by not only knowing the musical but all the lyrics to all the songs. So many musicals, so little time. She was beloved by all who knew her for egalitarianism and disarmingly kind disposition.
No services are planned at this time. Memorials to Valerie may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois.
