James A. Walker Jr. (Jim or JJ), 68, passed away on September 11, 2021 at Carbondale Hospital after a short illness.
James was born on October 15, 1952 to James and Betty (Jeralds) Walker in Herrin Hospital in Herrin, Illinois.
Jim graduated from Murphysboro High School in 1970. He married Stephanie Smolak on July 3, 1971. They shared over 50 years of marriage. Stephanie passed away two days later after Jim.
Jim is survived by one daughter; Sandra Walker of Murphysboro; son Nicholas Walker of Murphysboro; grandson; Flynn Walker of Murphysboro; sister; Lynn (Larry) Martin of Benton; nephews and nieces; William Martin of Benton, Michelle (Chris) Higel of Hobart, Indiana, and a great niece Abby Higel of Hobart Indiana.
Jim was employed by Captain Mine for many years as a welder. He also had a pawn shop in Marion for many years.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Royalton and was a past Master of the Royalton Lodge.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents James and Betty Walker and wife Stephanie Walker.
Jim will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Per Jim’s request there will be no visitation of funeral.
