Robert “Bob” Glenn Grove ~ Carbondale August 22, 2020

Robert “Bob” Glenn Grove, 77, passed away peacefully Saturday August 22, 2020 at his residence surrounded by his loving wife and family.

Bob was born March 4, 1943 in Carbondale, Illinois the son of the late Lester and Frances (Smith) Grove.

Bob served the United States Navy and his country from 1961-1965 as a Communication Specialist on the USS Intrepid aircraft carrier. He was a Bus Driver for over 16 years and loved making his “Special Deliveries”.

He was an avid fisherman, world traveler, amateur photographer, and artist. His great love was old locomotive trains and was an avid enthusiast of folk music.

Bob married his lovely wife Janice Gail Williams on September 18, 1980. They have shared just shy of 40 years of marriage.

He is survived by his wife Janice Grove; 5 children; Angela Ambrose; Barbara Ann and Mike Rowe; Amy Rebecca Forbes; Jennifer Lynn and Tim White; Mary Hamilton; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister Shirley Gresch; three nephews; one niece and many other dear and beloved relatives and friends.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents Lester and Frances Grove; one sister Marilyn Mayhew; and great grandparents George and Allie Jane Smith.

Visitation will be Sunday August 30, 2020 at 12 noon. Services will start at 1:00pm at Walker Funeral Home in Carbondale with Pastor Doug Collison officiating. Graveside services with full military rites will be at Oakland Cemetery at 2:00pm in Carbondale.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Southern Illinois.
