Daniel Ray Young, 86, of DeSoto, Illinois passed away Sunday, March 6th, 2022 with his loving family by his side.
Daniel was born November 25, 1935, in Carbondale, Illinois the son of the late Fred and Kathryn (Helton) Young.
He married Dianna (Hethmon) Young on May 17, 1958; she survives. They shared over 64 years of marriage.
Dan worked for GTE Phone Company in Carbondale for over 30 years before he retired. He loved horses, making bridals, and repairing old leather saddles. He had a love for fishing as well. Dan and his brother Richard would go fishing every weekend during the summers. He also loved working crossword puzzles, watching westerns shows with their beloved dog Macy, and loved watching the Kentucky Derby.
He is survived by his wife Dianna Young and their son Daniel Allen Young both of DeSoto, Illinois; sisters; Sharon Alstat; Peggy Darnell and daughter DeAnn all of Murphysboro, Illinois; brothers; Richard and Morgan Young of Desoto and James Young of Chicago, Illinois. Seven grandchildren; Amy and Matt Grammer, Kara and Jeremy Buchanan, Khristopher, Khyle, Khorey, Khaleb and Alicia Young; eight great grandchildren; Tyler, Kaylen, Tia, Peyton, Jaxon, Madyson, Landon and Adalin; One great great grandson Elijah; son in law Joe Lively, and many more cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents; Fred and Kathryn Young; daughter; Kim Lively, sisters Mary Ellen Weaver and Nancy Young; brother Fredrick James Young.
Visitation will be Thursday March 10, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home in Carbondale. Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at DeSoto City Cemetery, DeSoto, Illinois.
